Production

Engineering
The whole production in the company is guided by the information and the procedures developed by the Engineering Department. Using specific software for the different production applications (such as ProEngineer, Inventor, Hypermill and Quikcast), AMM engineers plan and monitor every production stage. This includes: robot programmes for model machining, filling simulations and solidification for casting, CNC programmes editing for turning and machine-cutting, development of 3D dimensional control files and, in short, all necessary documents to carry out work with all guarantees of success.

Casting
AMM has a foundry with over 1,190 square metres in facilities, with medium frequency induction furnaces with a 12 Ton capacity, casting ladles up to eight tons, sand mixing machines for moulding and the most modern production controls. All melting carried out have their material monitored in the furnace by means of chemical analysis and degasification procedures in order to strictly meet the quality and specification of each material.

Machining
A machine shop like ours, with over 20 machines including lathes, milling machines and auxiliary machinery ensures the necessary capacity for the comprehensive machining of all our products. All of our client’s information, as well as the CNC programmes needed for production are developed in the engineering department and placed in the shop by an ERP specific module. Nearly all our products are delivered ready for assembly. Some of them are even assembled in our own facilities; only a small percentage of our products are delivered pre-machined or rough-cast.

Polishing
In our polishing shop our staff show, on a daily basis, their professional skill and experience obtaining the final geometry of the products. Taking the rough parts as a starting point, and with a previous drawing prepared by the quality team, it is in the shop where the AMM products acquire their final shape and dimension. It is also here where the products for military applications and class “S”, previously milled fully via C.N.C, acquire their total absolute quality, perfection.

    

Quality
Since the order is received until it is dispatched in our shops, the whole production is governed by the ISO standard. In order to achieve the maximum satisfaction of the client, this quality system ensures traceability of all products throughout the production process and ensures a continuous improvement in the production procedures. Chemical analysis of fusions, tensile tests, impact tests, dimensional checks of machining and surfaces are some of the controls carried out during the different manufacturing stages. Our products are classified by the main classification societies, before their delivery. The classification societies ABS, GL, DNV, RINA, LRS and BV, among others, certify all the products manufactured in AMM.

Products capacities
The AMM team has achieved several improvements which have enabled the company to be more flexible and adapt itself to the new and diversified demand of propellers and components for marine propulsion.
